The vendors and products here are really good, there’s always a nice crowd, and there’s a lot of great stuff to choose from. My only real complaint is the tipping culture. It feels like nearly every transaction now comes with a request for a tip. Buy a jar of salsa? Tip screen. Buy a piece of cake? Tip screen. Buy a packaged product off a vendor’s table? Tip screen. In many cases, the only service being provided is handing me the product I’m purchasing and completing the transaction. I’m happy to tip when someone is actually providing a service, but I don’t think customers should be made to feel like they haven’t paid enough after paying the listed price for a product. Presumably, the cost of doing business and an appropriate profit margin are already built into that price. I understand that vendors may simply be using payment systems that automatically prompt for tips, but when it happens over and over throughout the market, it creates an uncomfortable experience. I’d much rather vendors price their products at what they need to charge and let me happily pay that price without being prompted to add another 15–25% for simply purchasing something. I was walking around the farmers market in Bentonville Arkansas two weeks ago and a couple of guys behind me were talking about McKinney so I turned around and I said “I’m going to McKinney next week” and they told me I needed to go to the farmers market. Then they said McKinney is a lot like Bentonville. They were not wrong. The square felt very comfortable. The vendors were polite and happy to see everyone. There were dogs everywhere. Very much enjoyed our time on the Square and would love to come back.

Wow!! What a surprise! This market had the best local farmers that I have seen with a full assortment of veggies. It was hot and crowed but that’s what a great farmers market is all about! Also, the Samoa’s were out of this world! Can’t wait to go back!

I'll have to go again next Saturday because this was a short run around and the only thing we've tried is the last taco truck. Forgot the name of it but that was a disappointment.. I'd give them a 1 star. Be back next time because everything else looks amazing

We are so fortunate to have this farmers market within reach! This is probably the only farmers market around the area where there is abundance of produce available. It’s part of my Saturday to pick freshest produce from super friendly and quality vendors, buy couple macaroons for the kiddo, bag fresh sourdough, stop by tamales to say hi to Richard and buy their horchata and black bean tamales, get our favorite salsa, grab a pastry if we are lucky enough from rosemary bakery. Oh and not to forget the fresh cup of lemonade from papas farm-stand! We went to farmers markets in France, Italy and, Costa Rica yet McKinney market feels like home! A huge shout out to all the vendors that make this market unique and amazing!
